Harry Gordon Johnston's Obituary
Harry Gordon (Gordy) Johnston, 86, passed away peacefully at home on October 12, 2023. He was born in Salt Lake City on January 7, 1937, to Alta Maria Earl and Gordon Phillip Johnston. He was the eldest of 3 children.
He worked for 30+ years as an ornamental welder for Niederhauser Ornamental. He would often point out things and say, “I built that”! He was proud of his craft and built amazing things. He enjoyed bottle digging and collecting antiques, specifically kerosene lamps, bottles and marbles. He raised and showed pigeons and chickens and was a longtime member of the Utah Fancy Poultry Association. He had a love for horses and dogs, especially Arabians and German Shorthair Pointers. He also had a passion for growing Indian corn and pumpkins, which he often entered in the Utah State Fair.
He married Barbara Josephine Bouck in 1957, they were blessed with 4 children, Kelly, Kip, Kirt and Kim; 7 grandchildren, Amber, Ashlee (Dump), Cheyanne (Stran), Garrett, Korey, Nathan and Wyatt (Bri); 12 great-grandchildren, Deavon, Dreylynn, Duke, Emmitt, Jaylee, Kadrian, Kamari, Quincy, Teonea, Tesslynn, Wesley, and Zinnia.
He is survived by his sister Joan Chatwin (Duane) and children Kirt (Crystal) and Kim Carter. He is preceded in death by his parents, sister Shauna DeWaal (John), sons Kelly and Kip, great grandson Duke Sorensen and his wife, Barbara.

A viewing will be held on Tuesday, October 17th from 6-8pm at the Riverside Stake Center, 1148 W. 500 N., Salt Lake City. A short viewing will be held on Wednesday, October 18th from 10:30-11:00am with graveside services directly following at the Bountiful City Cemetery, 2224 S. 200 W., Bountiful.
