Heather and I became friends while our husbands were finishing up their Masters degrees at BYU. We all went off to Binghamton New York, our baby boys in hand, to begin our careers with IBM. As our families grew, Heather and I got together for “play dates”. One in particular was a sleep-over at Heather’s while our husbands were traveling on a business trip. We each had three kids by now, (same ages) so there was a friend for everyone. We had a wonderful time and talked the night away after the kids were asleep. I returned back home, and the next evening Heather called to say that she just discovered that her kids had chickenpox. She was so upset about exposing my kids, but of course it wasn’t her fault. A few days later my children succumbed, but at least we got it all over with at once!
Mont and Heather were such an amazing and fun couple. We shared many memories together, and then we moved to Ca. They threw us a lovely party, making it even harder to leave our beloved New York friends.
Mont, Ralph and I send our love to you and to your beautiful family. We are heartbroken at this early loss of Heather and know this must be incredibly difficult for you. Thank you for being lights to the world and for living the gospel as the Savior would have us do. With love to you and yours—Michelle & Ralph Ahlgren
