Helen Patricia Farmer's Obituary
Helen Patricia Farmer, a beloved wife, mother, and community leader, passed away on March 26, 2025, at the age of 87.
Born on April 22, 1937, in Caldwell, Idaho, to Charles and Alma Eastland Robinson, Helen spent her early years in Caldwell and Meridian, Idaho. In 1956, she was crowned Miss Keep Idaho Green.
On June 6, 1958, Helen married the love of her life, Robert Farmer, after they met when he returned from serving in the Army in Germany. The couple was later sealed in the Idaho Falls Temple on May 18, 1999, celebrating their devotion to each other. She loved Robert more than anything and was a constant companion to him for 67 years this June.
Helen's talents and interests were vast. She was a beautiful singer who performed with the Johnny Miller Band in the 1950s, and it was during one of her performances that she first met Robert. He says they were in a nightclub, she says they were in a bakery, who’s to know? In addition to her musical gifts, Helen was a skilled cook, known for her incredible fried chicken, and an avid crocheter, creating beautiful blankets for her family and loved teaching those skills to her grandchildren.
The Farmers moved to Utah in 1970 with their four children, where Helen had a long career with Sears and as an office manager for Anderson Siding. She dedicated herself to raising her family and supporting their activities. She was a constant presence at her children's sporting events and cherished their annual family water skiing trips, where they would return home sunburnt and waterlogged but filled with laughter and memories.
Helen's commitment to community service was exemplified by her involvement with the Roy Lady Elks, where she served as President and on the Board of Directors for many years. She took great pride in the Elks' contributions to the community of Roy City.
After retiring, Helen and Robert moved to Island Park, Idaho and had an active lifestyle, snowmobiling and riding four-wheelers with friends. Later in life, they moved to Hurricane, Utah, where they enjoyed the warm weather, backyard lizards and Robert’s garden, where Helen loved to read. She especially loved it when her children and grandchildren would visit and couldn’t wait to see them over the holidays.
Throughout her life, Helen's faith was a guiding force. She held various church callings, including singing in the choir, serving in the Boy Scouts, and her final calling as a Ward Missionary in the Hurricane 6th Ward.
Helen is survived by her devoted husband of 67 years, Robert Farmer; her children, Clinton (Jan) Farmer, Bryant (Laura) Farmer, and Pahmela Farmer Foxley; six grandchildren; and ten great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her son, Tracy Robert Farmer. Helen passed away on Tracy’s birthday and we can only imagine the wonderful reunion they had.
The family would like to express their heartfelt gratitude to the staff at Maple Springs Lighthouse in Brigham City for their compassionate care of Helen during her battle with Alzheimer's, and especially to Karl Wall with Aegis Hospice for his exceptional support during her final days and being such a great friend to our mother.
A graveside service will be held on April 3rd at the Roy Cemetery. Helen's legacy of love, service, and faith will continue to inspire all who knew her.
