Helen Lessley's Obituary
Helen Lessley, 88, went home to be with the Lord September 23, 2021. She was born in SLC, Utah to Nephi and Ruth Hogan Parry on June 11, 1933. Her family moved to Bluffdale where she lived until 1950, then West Jordan after marrying Warren Thomas Lessley. She was the first born of 12 children and deeply loved her very special family.
She was a wonderful example of a good mother, wife and servant of the Lord. She was the Utah Director of “Child Evangelism Fellowship” for 50 years and loved teaching children. She opened the doors to the Utah State Fair with her Wordless Book Tent as well as starting Bible Clubs in public elementary schools across the state. She taught Junior Church, Chapel and Vacation Bible Schools with Pastor Marshall Warneke at the Bible Baptist Church in Taylorsville. She then taught Ladies Sunday School and helped with the AWANA, VBS and Children’s Sunday School at Faith Baptist Church after moving to Layton. She was very creative, loved to paint, grow flowers and was an excellent seamstress. As her daughter, I enjoyed her DIY projects and couldn’t wait to get home from school to see what she was doing.
She was preceded in death by her husband Warren in 1992; son, Randy Lessley and grandson, Randy Carey Lessley; brother, Ron (Arlene) Parry; sister, Janis (Marvin) Cowdell. She is survived by her daughter, Pauline & Dale Marko, grandchildren, Matthew Marko – Alder & Maple Marko, Daniel & Sarah Marko; MaryJo, Amber & Casper Lessley; Son, Tim & Donna Lessley, grandchildren, Shane Lessley - Tristan (MaKay) Lessley & Jaxton Bird, Tyson & Karalee Lessley; Trisha (Blake) Adalyn & Olivia Troester; Ian Lessley; Rocky (D’Nache) Alan & Jack Wright; Jade Ellis– Hailee, Hunter Ellis & Austin Richison; sisters, Louise (LaMar) Lloyd, Joyce (Don) Goff; brothers, Rulon (Debra), Jim (Arlene), Blaine (Renee), Ned (Joan), Don (Pat), John (Marsha), Lynn (Terri) Parry.
