Helmut Heinz Dieter Franz's Obituary
Helmut Heinz Dieter Franz passed away at the age of 82 years old at his home in Sandy, Utah surrounded by family. He was born in Oberlungwitz, Germany, October 8, 1940 to Berta Anna Eisert and Albert Erich Franz. At the age of only nineteen, he led his mother and younger siblings to a new life in America, and became the patriarch of a large extended family. Helmut was a dedicated member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, served three church missions (two with his beloved wife), and was a temple worker for 29 years at four different temples (Jordan River, Draper, Nauvoo, and Frankfurt).
He was a beloved husband, father, son, uncle, grandpa, and friend. Helmut loved spending time with family, camping and boating, staying up-to-date on current events and meeting with the “Armageddon huddle group”. He is survived by his wife of 57 years, Ginger Alma Berry Franz. His children: Byron, Karmin (Richard), Jared (Kellie), Travis. His grandchildren: Isaac (Sarah), Olivia, Kyle, Zaybri, Lillian. HIs siblings: Wolfgang (Marlene), Eleanor and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his youngest son, Daren Erich Franz.
Funeral services will be held Saturday, February 18, 2023 at 11:30 am in the Telford LDS chapel at 1834 East Creek Road (7995 South) Sandy, Utah 84093. There will be a visitation for family and friends at the church prior to the service from 10:00 am to 11:00 am.
Interment, Salt Lake City Cemetery 200 “N” Street SLC, Utah.
