Imelda Murillo Barboza

Imelda Murillo Barboza was born 21 April, 1941 in Estacion Frio Ignacio Zaragoza, Sombrerete, Zacatecas, Mexico to Jose Manuel Murillo Reveles and Rufina Barboza Alamos Rios. She was the fourth of ten children. She married the late Antonio Guerrero Gutierrez with whom she had eight children after which the couple divorced. She raised her children in Ciudad Juarez, Chihuahua, Mexico working hard at many different jobs, many in El Paso, Texas. Her family was very important to her. She was a hard worker, active, very creative, made house decorations, worked in a flower shop, sewed custom wedding dresses, cleaned houses and did whatever was needed to provide for her children. A convert to the LDS church, she provided great support to missionaries serving in the area by providing meals and assisting those in need. Many consider her a second mother and have maintained contact with her over the years. She served in the LDS church as a ward Relief Society President, a stake Relief Society counselor and a faithful visiting teacher.
Her life was not easy. She suffered the death of an infant son, raising her children as a single mother and the disappearance of her youngest son ten years ago under suspicious circumstances – but she persevered. She prayed consistently for each of her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren and demonstrated great faith in the power of a loving Father in Heaven and her Savior and Redeemer Jesus Christ.
She is preceded in death by her parents, her brother Saul, sisters Irma and Maria, an infant son Saul, and possibly her youngest son Jose Abel. She is survived by her brothers Manuel de Jesus, Jaure, Jose and Ubaldo and sisters Ery and Hilda, her sons Antonio (Maria) and Cesar (Norma), daughters Evangelina (Daniel), Maria Socorro (Carlos), Maria Virginia and Dora Elia as well as twenty living grandchildren and 8 living great grandchildren.
She passed peacefully after a bout with cancer in the company of five of her children in the home of her daughter in Lindon, Utah on the 14 February, 2018 - the day being a symbol of her love for her family. The family is grateful for the help of the good people from icare Home Health and Hospice who helped in her final days and the support of co-workers at Cove Point.

Se casó con Antonio Guerrero Gutiérrez, ya difunto, con quien tuvo ocho hijos después del cual se divorciaron. Crió los hijos en Ciudad Juárez, Chihuahua, México trabajando duro en trabajos diferentes, algunos en El Paso, Texas. Su familia le era muy importante. Trabajadora, activa y muy creativa, hacia decoraciones de casa, cociendo vestidos de boda, trabajaba en una florería, limpiaba casas y hacia lo que necesitaba para proveer para sus hijos. Una conversa a la Iglesia de Jesucristo de los Santos de los Últimos Días (SUD), ella apoyaba a los misioneros en el área proveyendo comida y apoyo a los necesitados. Muchos la consideran como segunda madre y aun mantenían contacto a través de los años. Sirvió como presidenta de la Sociedad de Socorro en el barrio y consejera de la estaca y fue una maestra visitante fiel.
Su vida no fue fácil. Sufrió la muerte de un niño, criando sus hijos como madre soltera y la desaparición hace 10 anos de su hijo menor en circunstancias sospechosos – pero perseveró. Oraba constantemente por cada uno de sus hijos, nietos y bis-nietos y demostraba gran fe en el poder de un amoroso Padre Celestial y su Salvador y Redentor Jesucristo.
Adelantado en la muerte por sus padres, su hermano Saúl, Hermana Irma y María, y su niño Saúl y posiblemente su hijo menor José Abel. Sobreviven sus hermanos Manuel de Jesús, Jaure, José, Ubaldo y sus hermanas Ery e Hilda, sus hijos Antonio (María) y César (Norma), y sus hijas Evangelina (Daniel), María Socorro (Carlos), María Virginia y Dora Elia y veinte nietos e ocho bis-nietos vivientes.
Pasó en paz después de luchar con cáncer en compañía de cinco de sus hijos en Lindon, Utah el 14 Febrero, 2018 – el día que es un símbolo del amor que tiene por su familia. La familia esta agradecida por la ayuda de la buena gente de icare Home Health and Hospice que le ayudaron es sus últimos días.
