Izetta Nadine Nixon's Obituary
Izetta Nadine (Knight) Nixon returned to her heavenly family Sunday, January 18, 2026. Nadine (her preferred name) was born April 27, 1943 in Waterloo, Iowa. The second child and only daughter of Howard Isaac Knight and Martha Fern Tracy. As a teenager/young adult her nickname was Inky; as her initials were INK. What a cute nickname.
The family moved from Iowa to Southern California in the early 1950’s. She grew up in Santa Ana, California where she graduated high school, married (later divorcing) and had four children; Donald (Joe), Ronald (Jimbo), John and Jennifer.
Nadine spent most of her adult life in Northern Utah, with a few years spent back in California connecting with her parents and siblings. She would spend many weekends with her parents playing pinochle and spending time with her brothers/sister-in-law’s (she did not like calling anyone an in-law – they were just brother, sister, son, daughter or grandchild).
She married the love of her life, Edward Eugene Nixon, on November 11, 1984, in Ogden Utah. They were inseparable; working together at many jobs over the years, they did not go many places without the other…even the dreaded grocery store. They spent their lives loving their family, weekends at home were spent with family having dinner followed by a game or two of pinochle. When they retired there were many trips to Wendover, Nevada and taking drives up the canyons of Northern Utah to see where the road took them.
While Nadine was not an active member of a church, she did believe in the Lord and would like to have shared a few versus from Thessalonians, Chapter 4:13-18.
Nadine is predeceased by her parents, husband, two brothers; Gayland Eugene and James Ray, sisters; Nancy Jean and Sandy and one son; Jimbo.
She is survived by her brother; Robert (Louise) Tucson AZ, sons; Joe (Ronda) Vaughn WA, John Cusick WA, daughter; Jennifer (James) West Haven, UT, seven grandchildren and 18 great-grandchildren.
Nadine did not wish to have a service or celebration of life; she only wanted to be joined with the love of her life. She asked to have her remains spread in the same area as her beloved husband. This will be a private gathering at a later time.
Our family would like to thank ALL the staff at Hidden Valley Assisted Living (Shandee and her staff especially), A-Plus Healthcare at Home (Tanna and Rachel) and Empower Rehab (Jack). Thank you for taking care of mom, making her comfortable and making her feel so very special. She thought the world of you.
From our family to yours, we love and appreciate your thoughts and prayers during this time. In lieu of flowers we ask you to spend time with the ones you love, say the things you mean and find your peace and joy.
