Jack LeRoy Hutchison's Obituary
Jack LeRoy Hutchison returned to his Heavenly Father September 8th, 2022 in Orem, Utah. He was born October 1, 1938 in Murray, Utah to Garret Hutchison and Myrtle Winchester. He was born the youngest of 5 children. He grew up in Malta, Idaho, where he met the love of his life, Vera Taylor who he was later sealed to in the Salt Lake temple. Starting at a young age, Jack developed a lifelong passion for sports. He participated in basketball, football and track on his high school teams. He was the quarterback for the football team. He graduated from BYU with a bachelor’s in Science. He took his young family to Lyman, Wyoming where he coached both football and basketball. He also was the driver’s ed teacher, of which he could tell you a few funny stories. He then changed careers and moved to Provo, Utah to take up selling life insurance and eventually health, and auto insurance as well where he received many awards throughout his career. He moved to Salt Lake for many years before settling back in Orem. He enjoyed coaching his sons in baseball and football. He was always there for his children and grandchildren.
Camping may not have been his favorite, but he knew his family liked it, so he took his kids on many camping trips.Those who knew him knew he was a big Yankees and BYU fan. He supported BYU in all of their sports , having season tickets to basketball, football, and baseball. Jack advocated for others and truly understood what it meant to be christlike. He is known for supporting his family and putting others ahead of himself. From providing a place to stay for many family members, to driving his lawnmower to mow his neighbor’s lawn, Jack was always willing to serve others. He served in the Timpanogos temple and loved that opportunity. He also served as high priest group leader, ward clerk, building scheduler, and many other callings. He is deeply loved and will be deeply missed by his family.
He is preceded in death by his son, Boyd J Hutchison and is survived by his wife Vera, and children: Tonia Kaye (Orlando) Kelm, Alan LeRoy (Lynda) Hutchison, Teresa Lees, Brad (Riquel) Hutchison, 22 grandchildren, 30 great grandchildren and sister, Nancy Ward. Jack and his family would like to thank hospice attendants Travis and Trevor.
Jack’s funeral services are September 19th. The family viewing will be at 9:45 AM at 575 South, 400 West, Orem, Utah. Funeral service begins at 11. The address for the burial is at Eastlawn Cemetery, 4800 North, 650 East, Provo Utah under the direction of Premier Funeral Services.
