Jack H Monson's Obituary
It is with deep heartache that the family of Jack H. Monson must give notice that he has passed into the loving arms of his Lord and his loved ones who passed before him. Jack fought a dignified and courageous battle against brain cancer, never losing his unique sense of humor. He died peacefully on February 2, 2018 at home with family by his side. He was 67. He was born in Ogden, Utah on May 24, 1950 to William Art and Carma Jeanette Monson.
He entered the U. S. Army in 1967, serving in Germany. After his discharge from the Army, Jack joined the U. S. Navy Sea Bees Reserves, then in 1986 transferred to the U. S. Air Force Reserves, serving at Hill Air Force Base’s 419th Logistics Support Squadron until he retired in 2001 as Master Sgt. with over 30 years of dedicated service. He attended Stevens Henager College and Weber State College. In 1993, Jack retired from Civil Service at Hill Air Force Base where he worked as a heavy mobile equipment mechanic. He remained a talented mechanic his whole life, sharing his expertise with all who shared his passion. He also served as a volunteer firefighter with Clinton City Fire Department. In 1968, he married Cheryl Jeppson and they had a daughter, Lori and son, Jack Jr. They were later divorced and in 1982 he married Joyce Mikkelsen Bench and added her son, Jason to the blended family. Jack and Joyce have been married for 35 wonderful years. Jack not only travelled the world during his military years, but he and Joyce moved quite frequently, living in Sequim, WA for a number of years and spent several winters in Yuma, AZ. Bench (Jody), 4 grandchildren and 4 great-grandchildren, sister Bonnie (Leonard) Torman, sister Maxcine Medina, brother William George (Bill) Monson and brother Roy (Sheri) Monsen.
