Jacqueline J Smith's Obituary
Jacqueline J Smith was born in 1931 in Sac, City Iowa. She passed away on November 10th 2023
peacefully in her sleep in Layton, Utah. She was preceded in death by her husband (Dwight), son
(Steve), brother (Ron), parents (Stuart and Isla), and a sister. She is survived by her son (Stan), 2
brothers (Bill and Tracy), sister (Cynthia), 6 grandchildren, 14 great grandchildren, and 1 great-great
granddaughter.
She married her sweetheart, Dwight (Babe) shortly after high school, and they were
inseparable for their 73 years of marriage. They lived in Denver, and moved to Utah in 1959. They
both worked and retired from Hill AFB. Jackie loved Square Dancing, playing pinochle with friends,
and going out to eat at various buffets. She loved talking to everyone, and made friends with the
waiters and waitresses wherever they ate. She would remember all their names, everything about
their children and families, and loved taking pictures and swapping stories.
She and Babe would travel south for the winter for many years, and made many long lasting
friendships along the way. Jackie ran 2 businesses out of their home, providing vitamins and
makeup to friends and family. She also loved technology and built her own PC. She had an
impeccable memory and never lost that even in her golden years. She loved to sew and make
clothes and always joked about opening up her own store because “she had everything you could
ever need, but you had to be able to find it first”.
The last 3 years were tough on Jackie and Babe. When she had a stroke that left her
paralyzed on her right side, they made the tough decision to move into an assisted living facility in
Layton. She was visited by her family friends and neighbors, and used the opportunity to make new
friends as well. The family would like to thank the staff, caregivers, friends and neighbors who
always visited and looked after her. She will be missed.
Services will be held at Premier Mortuary in Roy, Utah on Saturday the 18th of November
2023 at 11am.
