Jamal Lucas Joiner's Obituary
Jamal Lucas Joiner, age 23, of Spanish Fork, Utah, passed away on May 12, 2025. Born on November 30, 2001, to Tamara Santistevan and Isiah Joiner in Provo, Utah, Jamal brought light, laughter, and love into the lives of all who knew him.
Jamal was outgoing, fearless, and full of life. He was the kind of person who lit up a room just by walking into it—a natural entertainer and a rock for his family and friends. His selflessness and deep loyalty left an impact on everyone he met. To know Jamal was to love him.
He had a passion for music, sports, and adventure. Whether he was skateboarding, fishing, hooping on the court, hanging with his dog, gaming, or doing “all types of other ill shit,” Jamal brought intensity and joy to everything he did. He was an All-Star in Orem City baseball, was featured in the AAU Book of Basketball, and was an excellent student, especially excelling in math. His talents were matched only by his big heart.
He is survived by his loving mother, Tamara Santistevan, and his siblings: Jordan Newsome, Isiah Joiner Jr., Ian Joiner, and Payton Joiner. He also leaves behind many close relatives and countless friends who became chosen family. Jamal was preceded in death by his father, Isiah Joiner; his grandfather, Elroy Joiner; and his beloved niece, Addison.
Jamal had a special bond with the ocean, and an even deeper one with his family. His spontaneity, intelligence, athleticism, and unmatched energy made him unforgettable. He was truly one of a kind.
In lieu of a traditional service, a celebration of life will be held Friday, July 18th at Timpanogos Park (Bowery Pavilion) for 5-7:30pm, to honor Jamal’s memory in the way he lived—boldly, joyfully, and surrounded by love.
