James Hal Cheney's Obituary
James Hal Cheney was born October 13, 1943 in the Dee Hospital, Ogden , Utah. He was preceded in death by his parents : Evan James Cheney and Melba Holmes and a son Franklin Andrew Cheney. He is survived by siblings: Karen (Cheney), and Carter Cook; Jan Byron Cheney and Loretta ; Children: Kam Sherrese Cheney, Jonathan James (Elizabeth) Cheney, Patrick Thorup Cheney and Tyler Don Cheney and 4 grandchildren: Madalin Rose, Andrew Lee, Christian James and Katie Marie. He has many nieces, nephews and cousins which he spent fun times with over the years.
Jim is a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. He has had callings such as elders quorum president, teacher and home teacher.
In high school he was on the track team and ran the 100 and 200 yard dash. He was also an usher at the school activities and known as one of the best dressed students. He loved education and received his masters degree from California State College at Los Angeles. He loved to read any and all books and he loved to play tennis.
Jim was in the U. S. Army from 1961 to 1963 and served a short time in Korea. His career work was mostly in sales.
Jim passed away at the Woodland Park Care Center on May 14, 2016 at age 72.
His funeral will be at the Oak Hill ward on Wednesday, May 25, at 12:00 pm. The address is : 895 West 4800 South, Taylorsville, Utah.
Interment will take place at the Utah Veterans Memorial Park with military honors at a later date.
