James "Hal" Hammond Jackson's Obituary
James (Hal) Hammond Jackson, affectionately known to his family as “Big Guy” 65, passed away at home with family on Saturday December 5th, 2020. He was the eldest of three sons, born in Bonham, Texas on June 23rd, 1955, to the late Lee and Sherry Jackson.
He graduated from the University of Kansas in 1978 with a degree in Electrical Engineering. While at the University of Kansas he met, fell in love with, and married his wife of 40 years Ruth Ann Cameron. Ruth blessed him with the opportunity of being a father to two beautiful children Jill Ann Jackson and Christopher (Kit) Jackson.
He had a successful career, working and designing oil and gas pipelines and trona mines in several different states. Hal was an avid hunter, angler, and golfer. Throughout his life, he enjoyed playing and watching all different kinds of sports.
When the University of Kansas basketball was playing you could always count on Hal to be watching and cheering for his beloved Jayhawks. “Maybe now he can finally find the answer to what the phrase Rock Chalk Jayhawk really means.”
The only exception was when his granddaughter was young and asked “Popa, can we watch a Disney movie”. His Granddaughter was “the apple of his eye”.
Thank you for all your time and your heart and soul. We’ll always love you and forever hold you in our hearts where things matter the most. We’ll never forget you “Big Guy.”
Hal is survived by his wife Ruth Ann Jackson, his son Christopher (Lee) Jackson, his daughter Jill Ann Crookston and her husband Shad Crookston, his granddaughter Samantha Ellen Smith, and his two brothers John Jackson and Jay Jackson.
