James Carlos Hansen's Obituary
In Loving Memory of James Carlos Hansen.
James Carlos Hansen passed away September 27, 2025. He was born August 27, 1935 in Richfield to Ted C. and Vera Hansen. He was raised and educated in Richfield and graduated from Richfield High School.
Carlos was an amazing speller. He won many spelling bees while attending his elementary and junior high years. He loved playing basketball and he also became an all star basketball player. He attended Snow College and the University of Southern Utah and received an associate’s degree. He served in the National Guard.
Carlos married Carol Lee Burgess on June 19, 1959 in Salina, Utah Their marriage was solemnized in the Salt Lake LDS Temple June 19, 1974. He worked for the Wildlife Resources for 13 years and as Superintendent at the Glenwood Fish Hatchery for five years. In 1974, he and his family moved to Salt Lake City. While living there he worked for consolidated freight for 22 years and retired. A few years later, he wanted to work again and was hired at the United States Postal Service. He worked for them for 8 years.
Carlos loved sports and was an avid fan of the University of Utah football team and also BYU football. His hobbies included hunting, fishing, reading, and playing his blue grass music. He is survived by his wife Carol Lee; Children, Lisa Jorgenson and James D Hansen; Grandchildren, Marina, Jeremy, Amber, Bryanna, Braydon, Nevayah; Great Grandchildren, Kenzley, Ashlynn, Elaz Jason.
He is preceded in death by his parents; brother, Ted Lee; sisters, Betty and Valeria; Children, Stacey O’Keefe and Scott Hansen; Father and Mother in-Law, Briant and Zoe; Brother-in-Law, Blaine; Sister-in-Law ShaRee; and nieces and nephews.
A Viewing will be held Monday, October 6th at 6-7 pm at Premier Funeral Services, located at 67 East 8000 South, Midvale, Utah. Interment will be held at Salina Cemetery at 1 pm on Tuesday, October 7th.
