James Ryan Harrison's Obituary
James Ryan Harrison – 7/29/1976-8/13/2024
James Ryan Harrison (Ryan) passed away with family by his side on August 13, 2024. He died of acute respiratory failure but also suffered from other contributing medical conditions.
Ryan was born on July 29, 1976 in Salt Lake City, Utah to Billy Joe Harrison and Loretta K. Jones Harrison. Ryan’s parents divorced when he was very young and he spent most of his childhood living with his mother, his older brother, and his much older half-brothers. When his father remarried, Ryan’s family expanded to include a step-brother, a step-sister and, eventually, a half-sister. But it was always his older brother, Dion (Monster), that he was the closest to. They were barely a year apart and were nearly inseparable. Ryan attended Mountain View Elementary, Glendale Junior High School and East High School, graduating in 1994.
Ryan met his sweetheart, Corrine Martin, when he was 14. They were friends for a while and hung out often before dating, but once they became a couple, he knew she was the only one for him. They were married on October 14, 2000 in Farmington, Utah. Corrine was born on Halloween and they shared a special love together of all things Halloween but had a special love for The Nightmare Before Christmas.
Ryan and Corrine were the fun uncle and aunt. They loved children very much, spending countless hours babysitting nieces and nephews. They both worked jobs in the Salt Lake City School District with special needs children. But in spite of this love for children, they struggle to have their own. After reaching their forties, they had all but given up until in July 2017 they were blessed with a special surprise – their beautiful baby boy, Logan. Ryan and Corrine were overjoyed and gave Logan all the love any child could ever ask for. Sadly, three months after Logan’s first birthday, Ryan and Logan lost their precious Corrine.
Ryan had worked many jobs in his lifetime. His favorite had been working with the children in the Salt Lake City School District. His last job before his passing was with GT Trucking unloading trucks.
Ryan was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Corrine Harrison, father, Billy Joe Harrison, step-mother, Lola Dee Harrison, mother, Loretta Jones Harrison, brother, William Dion (Monster) Harrison.
Ryan is survived by his precious son, Logan Ryan Harrison, brothers, Duane (Leesa) Moll, Jeff Moll, sister-in-law, Tiffiny Harrison, step-brother, Bryan (Valerie) Holdbrook, step-sister, Jennifer Brooks, sister, Amanda (Brian) Cole, aunt, Kathleen (Robert) Baldonado, many nieces, nephews and cousins.
A celebration of life will be held in honor of Ryan on Saturday, September 14, 2024 from 6:00pm until 9:00pm at the LDS Church at 8171 S Jackson Street, Midvale, Utah. In lieu of flowers, please donate to the go fund me account set up for his final expenses and care for Logan.
