James "Jake" LeRoy Naylor's Obituary
Jake Naylor, born April 9, 1973, passed away peacefully on June 23, 2026, with his family by his side.
Jake was truly one of a kind. He was the funniest person around. He always had a smile on his face and a way of making people laugh, no matter what kind of day they were having. His silly dad jokes, quick wit, and ability to bring fun into any moment are things people will always remember. It was nearly impossible to be in a bad mood around Jake.
Above all, Jake loved the people in his life deeply. He loved his tattoos, living life on the wild side, and chasing the adventures that made him who he was. “HALE YEAH!” wasn’t just something he had tattooed on his hands, it was the way he lived. He loved riding dirt bikes, being outdoors, listening to music, and spending time with his friends and family. Jake knew how to have fun, and he made memories everywhere he went.
Jake was one of the biggest supporters of the people he loved. Whether it was his children, grandchildren, nieces, nephews, or siblings, he was always cheering them on in their hobbies, sports, careers, and dreams. He held onto the little details of what mattered to the people he loved because those things mattered to him, too.
Jake also loved his dogs and cats, who were constant companions and brought him endless joy.
He was preceded in death by his dad, Bruce Hale.
We like to think the very first thing Jake did was wrap his dad in a big hug. We also hope he’s finally found the peace that escaped him here. And knowing Jake, he’s probably already found a way to make everyone laugh and maybe stir up just a little trouble.
Jake is survived by his wife, Shelby Naylor; his children, Dylan (Jessica) Naylor, Samuel (Halli) Naylor, and Olivia (Brayden) Laws; his grandchildren, Stetson Naylor, Krue Naylor, Vivian Naylor, and Waylon Laws; his mother, Kerri Hale; his siblings, Richard (Brooklyn) Hale and Kamilla (Mathew) Romankowski; and many nieces, nephews, extended family members, and friends who loved him dearly.
A life doesn’t have to be perfect to be meaningful. Jake’s life was filled with laughter, unforgettable memories, and people who loved him fiercely. That’s the legacy we’ll carry forward.
We will love and miss him more than words can say.
Jake’s family will be celebrating his life at Settlement Canyon in Tooele, Utah, on Friday, July 3, 2026, from 12:30 p.m. until sundown. This will be an open house-style celebration, so please come and go as you’re able. We hope everyone who knew and loved Jake will join us to share stories, memories, laughter, and a few good “Jake” moments.
