James Clair Matheos' Obituary
James Clair Matheos, affectionately known as JC, passed away unexpectedly on July 31, 2025 in Lehi at the age of 25. Born November 7, 1999 in Provo, Utah. JC brought a unique blend of warmth, humor and gentle spirit to all who had the pleasure of knowing him.
A graduate of Timpview High School, JC had a passion for all things mechanical and could often be found under the hood of a car, tinkering and fine-tuning with joy and focus. He especially loved his time working at Young Dodge as a mechanic - a job he took great pride in.
JC was an outdoorsman, happy to be found with a fishing rod in hand or on a hunting trip with his family. He loved a good paintball war - especially with his step father and brothers - building memories full of laughter and friendly fire.
Known for his bubbly spirit and quiet fun, JC found joy in simple things - a hearty meal, his mom’s famous pumpkin chocolate chip bread and cheesy rolls, or a rewatch of his favorite movies; Top Gun or Happy Gilmore. He was a devoted San Francisco 49ers fan and loved a good game of football. .
As a family man, JC’s devotion shine brightest - he cherished time spent with his family and he was especially proud of his role as the fun loving, teasing uncle. He was always ready with a smile or a good natured prank particularly with Bella - a beloved family dog.
JC faced mental health challenges throughout his life, and while he struggled, he also brought light and love to those who knew him. He was deeply loved and will be sorely missed.
He is survived by his mother and stepfather Sherry and John Boyd; his siblings Brittanie Getsinger Matheos, Chase Boyd and Dakota Boyd; his niece and nephews; and many others whose lives he touched. He was preceded in death by his father, James Anthony Warner Matheos, grandparents, Aunts, uncles and cousins.
A graveside service will be held August 13, 2025 at 11:00 am in the Provo City Cemetery 610 S State Street Provo, UT 84606. In honoring JC we remember a kind soul with a quick grin, skilled hands, and a heart that quietly carried more than most knew. The family would like express their gratitude to all of those that have helped with the donations, we can’t thank you enough.
