James E Poindexter's Obituary
Jim "James Earl" Poindexter, 85, of Clinton, Utah, passed away on May 8, 2024. After a courageous battle with cancer, surrounded by his loving family. He was born December 30, 1938, in Campti, Louisiana.
Jim, a dedicated veteran, served in the United States Air Force for 22 years, earning respect and honor through his military associations. He retired from the Air Force as a Senior Master Sergeant.
After his military service, Jim pursued a career at the United States Post Office in Clearfield, Utah. Where he retired after 20 years of service.
Jim married Wynnell Elmer, August 1964, Elko Nevada, They had three children and later divorced.
In his free time, Jim was an enthusiastic fan of the Yankee baseball team, an avid bicyclist, and tennis player. He also enjoyed fishing and boating with his friends and family.
Jim leaves behind a loving family, including his children: Trisha A. Yablon (Jeffrey) of Seabeck, Washington, Marcelle D. Blair of Ogden, Utah, and James I. Poindexter of Kaysville, Utah. He is also survived by his grandchildren: Morgan Campbell (Brandon) of Roy, Utah, Stacy Baugh (Ryan) of Layton, Utah, Mason Blair of Winnemucca, Nevada, and Kaitlin Montgomery (Kyle) of Kaysville, Utah, as well as his great-grandchild, Lola Campbell.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Daisy Coutee, father, Eli Poindexter, brothers Eli and Ray Poindexter, sister Doris Roskelley, and grandson Brady Baugh.
Viewing will be held from 3:00 to 5:00 pm, Sunday, May 19, 2024 at Premier Funeral Services located at 5335 S. 1950 W. Roy, Utah 84067. Graveside service will be 1:00 pm, Tuesday, 5/28/24 at the Clinton City Cemetery, 750 W. 800 N. Clinton, Utah with military honors. The family would like to thank Huntsman at Home, Home Health and Hospice organization, Dr. Gary Garner, Stacy, and Ryan for allowing her grandfather to enjoy his last days at their home.
