James Lee Sukosky's Obituary
James Lee Sukosky passed away on August 13, 2022 peacefully at home from heart failure. He was the son of Edward Sukosky and Grace Cyphers. Jim was born on May 27th, 1949 in Easton, Pennsylvania. Jim graduated from Tara Nova High School in 1967. He was then drafted into the US Marine Corps in 1969. He did serve over seas in Vietnam due to a clerical error but then was shipped back to California where he served the rest of his tour at Camp Pendleton. There he did the repair and testing on the weapons and then shipped them back over to Vietnam. He was a very proud Marine and loved this country to his last breath. Jim later married Susan Snodgrass in April of 1971. They had two sons, Ken and Nick. They were divorced shortly after. Jim later found a job as a surgical tech at Palomar Hospital in Escondido, Ca. This is where he met his late wife, Toby Kuns. They were then married on July 5, 1975. (7/5/75) Jim was all about things he could remember easy hence all the 7’s & 5’s. After they were married Jim decided that he wanted to follow something he’s always wanted to do, trucking. So both Jim and Toby went and got their CDL’s and hit the open road. They did team truck driving for many years till their first daughter Jaymee was born. Then he decided that it would be time to still a little closer to home and that is when he decided to try his hand at horses. If you knew Jim, you also knew there wasn’t anything he couldn’t do once he put his mind to it. Even if it was the polish, way it would still get done. Then came along his second daughter Marelou. Jim had many jobs throughout his life. He was never one to just stay in one place for to long. In 2006 Jim and Toby moved north so they could be close to Jaymee and her husband as they started a family. Jim then found his last forever work family Ralph Smith. He worked for this company for almost 17 years. They have become more that just a place to go and earn a paycheck they have become family. People that we can count on for anything. And we can never re pay that.
The family would like to thank all of the doctors and nurses that have helped care for Jim in his last few months. Dr. Adam Nebeker, you will forever hold a special place in this family. You were the only one that he would listen to and would truly trust. Nurse Katelynn… there are no words to say how grateful we are that you came into our lives. For all the times you went above and beyond for us and the compassion that you showed… they can’t teach that. We are truly better humans now that we have met.
Jim is survived by his daughters Jaymee Hemminger (Matt), Marelou Sukosky, His brother Jeff Sukosky (Patty), His grandson Taylor Hemminger, His nieces Stacey Head (Justin), Ashley Sukosky,
and Sons Ken and Nick Snodgrass.
He was preceded in death by his parents and loving wife Toby who passed on September 22, 2015.
Because of Jim’s wishes a formal celebration of life will be held at a later date.
