A great memory I have with my grandpa is when we would go back to school shopping. I wanted a pair of jeans that were ripped on the legs, but my grandma wouldn’t let me get them. Unknowingly, my sweet grandpa took the jeans to the register and told the cashier, “put these into the bag with the rest of the clothes we buy and make sure to charge me for them, but don’t tell my wife.” When we got home, I was SO HAPPY that I got the pair of ripped jeans. My grandma, on the other hand, was not happy. Grandpa said, “Alex wanted them, so I bought them for her.” It’s a perfect example of how much my grandpa cared about my wants and needs. He was always willing to make things harder for himself, to make things easier for me. I am forever thankful for his example and hope I can carry on his legacy by doing the same for my future children and grandchildren. I love you grandpa!
