Dear Marion and Family,
Deepest condolences in remembrance of a wonderful friend. I was one month older than Jan. He and I attended the 28th Ward together in South Ogden from the time we were in the fourth grade, through Weber College, until we left on our missions. We were very close friends.
Post mission we were both at BYU and in the ROTC. I graduated in 55 with an MA and my commission and went to preflight at Mission AFB, just a modest drive from Harlingen, but at a different time. Jan and I saw each other a time or two in the ensuing years--- always good friends. What a shame we lost contact.
As Jan went Air Force, I went into the Foreign Service. Our careers were basically similar, following God, Family, and Country. I missed you folks as I came up from California for a month to work in the Joseph Smith Building during the 2002 Olympics.
Again missions--- we served four for 10 years but ours were all in Europe. We were frequently in Utah after you and we retired, as we bought my Father's condo in Provo in 1999 when my Father, whom Jan knew very well, passed away. We moved here permanently in 2015. One of our four children in Utah has a home in Draper. Such a shame we haven't gotten together. But I expect we will in the next several years.
Isn't it wonderful to be disciples of Jesus Christ and children of the Covenant?
God bless you and your family, Marion. What a wonderful life you and Jan have had.
My love. Dee V. Jacobs
