Janae Diane (Peterson) Stephenson (42) of South Jordan, UT, passed away on Wednesday, January 23rd 2019 peacefully at home while surrounded by her family. The following obituary was written by Janae: “I was diagnosed with Amyotro Read Obituary
I met Jane while attending USU. She was an amazing light those of us who surrounded her. I was shocked to hear of her passing, so grateful to know her. It sounds like she continued to have an amazing influence on those around her including her spouse and children. I suppose until we meet again Janae! Thank you for influencing my life!
Rest well beautiful. I am grateful for the friendship we shared during my Utah years and will never forget trying to keep up with you during one of those jogging stroller climbs. I still have the photo you took of me huffing and puffing with my double wide Graco while you tried so hard not to burst out laughing at my spaghetti arms trying to push that thing uphill. I was no match for you lol. Jeff, you are in my prayers as are your sweet children.

For FHE we met as one big family. We were all sitting around talking and Scott her father-in-law was holding Megan, on his lap kind of bouncing her on the end of his knees, she was about 3-4 months old. He dropped one of her hands and as Megan was headed to the floor, Janae Jumped up from across the room and almost dove to save her daughter from hitting the floor. We all laughed and gave her a bad time. Scott did hang on so Megan was not in any jeopardy, but there was no one that jumped up to save her but her mom! Janae is like that always jumping to save someone, even if its with her beautiful smile! We love you all!

I have wonderful memories of Janae. Just like myself, she enjoyed cultural foods. I’d surprise her with my experiments and they were always welcomed with excitement, questions on how I made them and notes of gratitude later. This became years of ongoing taste testing. I wondered at one point if she really ate them. But when I’d see Jeff at the dcc and mentions my dishes; I knew she ate them! (even the questionable ones that my own family refused to eat). As her conditioned changed and she couldn’t eat anymore, she’d still asked about my cooking. I love how genuinely interested she was with my family especially my children and my mom. She was a ray of sunshine. I am grateful for her friendship. Every time I cook “ginataan” (filipino dessert), i’ll think of you, the only friend who honestly liked it as much as I do and will have a smile on my face.
Janae is an incredible woman. I know she's not left us physically but I think of her in the spirit world and have fond thoughts of what she must be doing. I have special empathy for her and her family since my mother struggled with a lot of medical problems and died young as well. Despite her struggles, Jenae always was thinking of others. When we took in our twins I was shocked when she turned up one day with a meal for our family. With everything she already had going on she was thinking of us and our own burdens. I will miss her even though I didn't have the opportunity to get to know her really well. Everyone around her could feel her pure love. With the few conversations I had with her about her children, I could tell that she loved them and cared about them so much. Goodbye Jenae. To her family and close friends, my thoughts are with you.
Janae made us feel so welcome when we moved unto the neighborhood. Her kindness, friendly nature and courage will never be forgotten
I remember when Jeff came home from his mission and Janae was at the airport to meet him with the rest of the family. He had been so ill at the last of his mission that we didn’t recognize him at first. When he saw Janae he was so happy to see her. Randy commented, “ those two are going to get married, Jeff doesn’t have a chance”. We loved her and welcomed her into our family.
