Janet Rampton Coleman Thomas
June 2, 1931-March 19, 2022
Janet Rampton Coleman Thomas passed away peacefully on Saturday, March 19, 2022 in Salt Lake City, Utah. She was 90 years old! Janet was born on June 2, 1931, in Salt Lake City, Utah, the daughter of Charles Cash Rampton and Blanche Ruby Worthen.
She graduated from East High School. She met David G. Coleman, Jr. “Juddy” at a University of Utah football game and it was love at first sight! They were married in the Salt Lake Temple on June 14, 1950. They moved to Boise, Idaho where they had their first child, David, then moved back to Salt Lake City, Utah where Stephen and Judy were born.
Life on Alden Street was a happy one with dear neighbors and friends! She planted a beautiful garden and made the house a home. She devoted her life to her family! She would take her children skiing and hiking. She also was involved in Cub Scouts. A move to Scottsdale, Arizona for two years was a fun adventure and then the family moved back to Murray, Utah. She and Juddy were a great team.
After raising her children, she went into real estate. Janet received many awards of excellence but her favorite accolade was helping a family find the perfect house. She always put her whole heart into it!
Dave and Janet were also members of the “famous" Duplicate Bridge and Dinner Club for over 40 years – and the PGA….Pathetic Golfers Association which were both a source of great fun and terrific friends.
Janet was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and will long be remembered for her unfailing generosity and her willingness to help anyone in need. Janet was a phenomenal artist!! All of her grandchildren remember doing artwork and pastels with her.
After 53 years of marriage Juddy passed away. She devotedly sat by his side and honored him even in illness. They are now having a grand reunion!
Janet later married M. Donald Thomas who passed away April 7, 2019. They were a great support to one another.
She leaves behind a loving family and will be greatly missed by them! She is survived by her three children, David (Jill) Coleman, Bountiful, Utah, Stephen (Melinda) Coleman, Boise, Idaho and Judy (Jerry) Rose, Sarasota, Florida. She was the best daughter, sister, wife, mother, mother-in-law and grandma. Janet adored and absolutely loved her 11 grandchildren, Chad, Cliff, Jen, Mike, Crystal, Ashlee, Alicia, Lizzy, Rachael, Danielle and Spencer….each in their own way! She had 22 great grandchildren that warmed her heart and was excited about another one on the way….to be named Juddy.
The family wishes to thank The Ridge at Cottonwood for making her last few years a delight with activities and friends. She absolutely loved all of her caregivers and they, in turn, showed her much love and compassion.
The family is having a graveside service at Mount Olivet Cemetery.
On Saturday, March 26, 2022, a Celebration of Life will be held at Alpine Country Club from 3-5pm…memories and a buffet will be provided. Casual dress.
