Janice Marie Davis' Obituary
Janice Marie Davis a loving wife, mom, sister and grandmother passed away on December 27, 2020 after a courageous battle with cancer. She was surrounded by family as she transitioned to eternal life.
Janice (Jan) was born on October 30, 1955 in Jacksonville Arkansas to the late Lester Lewis and Doris J. Johnson.
She graduated from Jacksonville High School where she met and later married high school sweetheart Donnie Davis in 1975. Jan, now a military spouse, and Donnie relocated to Clark Air Force Base Philippines in 1980. After three years serving abroad, they were reassigned to Hill Air Force Base, Utah which would be their final military assignment and the place they called home.
Jan worked at Hill AFB Exchange as a Lead Cashier, where she trained new cashiers and served countless customers, leaving a lasting impression on everyone she met with her infectious smile and personality. During her 30+ year tenure at AAFES, she received over 30 awards of recognition for her outstanding customer service and work ethic.
Jan was a selfless, caring, and loving soul whose greatest joy was spending time with family. If someone was in need, she would give her last, and never expect anything in return. Because she valued time with family, she’d often open her home to individuals who may be spending the holidays alone. She looked forward to her South Dakota and Arkansas trips, where she created everlasting memories with her daughters, grandchildren, and other close relatives. A few of her hobbies include shopping, going to the casino, and an occasional margarita.
She was preceded in death by her daughter Cora L. Carter, brother Tony McPherson, mother Doris J. Johnson, and father Lester Lewis.
She is survived by her loving husband of 45 years, Donnie Davis; daughters Tameka Davis and Latrice (Lance) Nettles; grandchildren Taya Storey, Blair Storey, Daisha, Jasmine, and Jason Carter; sister Rhonda Leeson; brother Tracey Johnson; and a host of aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends.
Janice will be laid to rest in her hometown Jacksonville, Arkansas at Arkansas Memorial Gardens
Cemetery.
