1965 - 2018
Our beautiful, wife, mother, sister, grandma and friend, Janine Halladay Sames passed away July 5, 2018 after a two year battle with cancer. She was born March 13, 1965 in Provo, Utah, the youngest child and only daughter of David Bert Halladay and Janet Kathryn Reid Halladay. She grew up on 70 South in Provo, a wonderful neighborhood with people who are still good friends to this day.
As a child, her dad called her NeeNee Doo. The nickname NeeNee stuck with her throughout her life. Janine loved going to her Aunt Carma’s in Beaver, Utah and being with her cousins. She spent a lot of time, when she was young, at her grandparents’ home (Bert and Mary Ann (Gran) Halladay). She and Craig bought that home and were living there at the time of her passing.
Janine’s family was the most important thing in her life. She loved family gatherings and was most happy when she was with her husband or holding a grandbaby. Caden, her grandson, lived with Craig and NeeNee for many years. She loved music and travel. She also loved the Philadelphia Eagles football team.
NeeNee married Jeff Davis and they later were divorced. She married her soul-mate, Craig Edward Sames, September 14, 2001. Theirs has been a wonderful relationship. Janine’s mom died in 2008. They had a special bond and whenever she was anxious or stressed, she felt her mother near. It happened too many times to be a coincidence. (3:13 was their “code”.)
Janine was preceded in death by her grandparents, her parents and a grandson, Gage. She is survived by her husband, Craig, a daughter, Christie Lyn (Amber) Church, a son, Trever Allen (Shar) Davis. Craig’s children, Austin Craig Sames (Katie), Justin Kent Sames (Jodi), Weston Edward Sames (Lani Livingston), and Kenndra (Mason Stott). She has 14 grandchildren; Madison Faith Hess, Caden J Riddle, Gavin O’Reilly Damien Davis, Gage Allen Davis, Daxton Gage Davis, Jayden Patrick Sames, Alex James Sames, Amaia Tesla Sadie Sames, Jaylex Edward Austin Sames, Kayson Justin Sames, Riley Taeson Sames, Asher Ryett Sames, Syler Samuel Sames, and Shaydon Edward Sames. She is also survived by her brothers, Doug (Sara) Halladay, Ed (Mindy) Halladay, and Duane (Kathleen) Halladay. Her stepmother, Kaye Halladay and stepsiblings, Kristy Watters, Michelle (Karl) Baxter and Scott (Colleen) Percival also survive her.
The family expresses many thanks to CNS Hospice for their care of Janine. Craig, we thank you for the tireless efforts in her behalf. You have truly been a devoted husband. We also thank Christie and Trever for helping their mother through this difficult time.
Funeral services will be held 11:00 am, Wednesday, July 11, 2018 at the Provo West Stake Center, 2530 West 200 South, Provo, Utah with a visitation from 9:45 to 10:45 a.m. Interment in the Provo City Cemetery.
