Jann Wing Smith passed away peacefully at home, June 16th 2025. Jann was born
July 27,1945 to Robert and Wanda Smith. In San Bernardino California. He was one of 5 Children (3 sisters + 1 brother ). In 1952 the Family moved to Utah, he attended Jordan High school and then went into the air force, where he was a mechanic.
Jann loved seeing how things worked. Taking things apart and putting them back together. We Started Calling it tinker-itis.
While in the service Jann met his first wife Vicky, having 3 children Teri, Janise, and Matt(Andrea).
He was later stationed in Alaska, which he considered to be the most beautiful place on Earth.
After his time in the Air Force he moved back to Utah, where he met the love of his life Mary Christine (Chrisee), marrying August 30th 1974. Together they went on to have 4 boys Jason (April), Jeremy (Jesselyn), Skyler(Jessie) and Spenser. 12 Grandchildren and
5 Great Grandchildren.
Jann had a great love for his family and friends and was always the first one there for anyone.
Jann's other love was mechanics. He especially loved Racing and building cars with his boys. You could ask him any questions or tell him any weird sound and he would know right away what was going on. He worked as a well known mechanic for 40 years and then continued to pass on his knowledge as a teacher with Salt Lake Community College for 18 years.
Jann was a quiet and friendly man who was always happy to help anyone that needed it, and educate them about what went wrong and how to fix it.
Jann is survived by is wife of 50 years Chris, his children Teri, Janise, Matt (Andrea), Jason (April), Jeremy (Jessie), Skyler(Jessie), Spenser. 12 grandchildren, 5 great grandchildren, and sister Sandy.
Preceded in death by parents Robert and Wanda Smith, Brother Barry Smith, Sisters Cherri Fuller, and Marvene Smith and Grandson Tevin Smith.
Services will be held Saturday, June 21st @ Premier Funeral Services, 67 east 8000 south Midvale, UT. Viewing @ 10:00 am, Funeral @ 12:00 pm and graveside services @ Crescent Cemetery 11105 south State Street @ 1:30 pm
