Jay Lynn Bodrero's Obituary
Jay Lynn Bodrero
Jay Lynn Bodrero, beloved father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother, and friend, passed away peacefully on July 12, 2026, surrounded by his loving family.
Jay was born on August 22, 1942, in Logan, Utah, to Parley and Iona Bodrero. Growing up on his family's farm, he learned the value of hard work, determination, and perseverance—qualities that remained with him throughout his life.
Jay proudly served his country in the United States Navy, where he enjoyed spending time aboard ships and out on the open water. He was a talented mechanic who loved working with his hands and had a lifelong passion for cars, especially Mustangs. Throughout his career, he worked as a mechanic, truck driver, and bus driver and dedicated 35 years of service to Delta Air Lines. He was a hard worker who took pride in providing for his family and ensuring they were well cared for.
On October 25, 1963, Jay married the love of his life, Karren McBride. They were later sealed in the Logan Utah Temple on September 12, 1967. Together they built a home in Woods Cross, Utah, where they raised their five children and shared 61 years of love, laughter, and cherished memories.
As faithful members of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, Jay and Karren later served a home mission together at the Home Storage Center. They enjoyed serving side by side, working together, and forming lasting friendships.
Jay enjoyed life and rarely sat still—except when it was time for his daily nap. He loved riding bicycles and motorcycles, flying whenever he had the opportunity, and spending time outdoors. His adventurous spirit led to many memorable stories, including surviving being run over twice in one day and walking away from an ultralight airplane crash. No matter what challenges came his way, Jay always seemed determined to keep moving forward.
Jay had a larger-than-life personality. He loved telling jokes, making people laugh, and was known for his loud, unmistakable laugh, and contagious smile. He could strike up a conversation with just about anyone and never hesitated to share a story. He was fiercely competitive and hated losing at games, especially when family was involved. Those who knew Jay also knew he appreciated life's simple pleasures—a cold Coke, a bowl of ice cream, and spending time with the people he loved.
Jay loved his family. He worked tirelessly throughout his life to provide for them and taught them through his example the value of hard work, resilience, faith, and commitment. His family will remember his sense of humor, his determination, his adventures, and the many stories and memories he leaves behind.
Jay was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Karren McBride Bodrero; his parents, Parley and Iona Bodrero; and his brothers, Paul Bodrero, Gerald Bodrero, and Don Bodrero.
He is survived by his children, Debby (Mike), Jody (Kathryn), Angela (Craig), Stephanie (Jacob), and Cami (Dave); 18 grandchildren; 9 great-grandchildren, with one more on the way; and his sisters, Vonna Saxton, Villa Brenchley, and Corlee Hunter. He is also survived by many extended family members and dear friends.
Though Jay will be deeply missed, his family finds comfort in knowing that he has been reunited with his beloved wife Karren. His legacy of hard work, faith, laughter, and love will continue through the generations of family who were blessed to know him.
A special thank you to the many friends and neighbors who showed their love, friendship, and support through visits, phone calls, prayers, treats, gifts, and time spent helping. We appreciate each of you and everything you did to help and comfort our family during this difficult time.
A memorial service to honor Jay’s life will be held at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints located at 790 W 1500 S in Woods Cross, on Saturday July 18, 2026. Funeral services will begin at 11am with a viewing prior to the service from 9-10:30 am.
