Jay Melvin Southam's Obituary
Jay Melvin Southam, age 82, of Salt Lake City, UT, passed away peacefully at home on April 24, 2026.
Jay dedicated 33 years of service to the Salt Lake County Sheriff’s Office, retiring as a Lieutenant. Throughout his career, he was known for his integrity, leadership, and commitment to serving his community. He was also an accomplished marksman, earning numerous awards in competitive shooting.
Beyond his professional life, he was a devoted father, a loyal friend, and someone who left a lasting impression on all who knew him. He valued his friendships deeply and maintained close bonds with many throughout his life. He will be deeply missed by those who knew him.
He is survived by his wife, Denise, and his daughters, Ashley and Sarah.
In accordance with his wishes, no services will be held. He will be laid to rest at Wasatch Lawns Memorial Park, alongside family who preceded him.
