Jean Seeley DaBell's Obituary
Jean Seeley DaBell our beloved mother, grandmother, sister, daughter, wife, rockstar preschool teacher and friend, returned home to the loving arms of our Heavenly Father on December 12 after a battle with colon cancer. We are heartbroken by the sudden loss of someone we love so much, but find peace through the atonement of Jesus Christ and that she is free from bodily pain. Jean has a zest for life and fought a hard battle with cancer until the end. She has a contagious smile and is a ray of sunshine to all she meets. She is a perfect Christlike example. From the moment you meet her she makes you feel like you’ve been best friends forever. Jean loves children as evidenced by the hundreds of preschoolers she taught for more than 30 years. Teaching preschool, especially teaching her grandchildren is her life’s passion. She continued to teach preschool during cancer treatments and until just a few days before her passing.
Jean was born April 4, 1957 in Salt Lake City and graduated from Granger High School and the University of Utah. She met and was wooed by Daniel Dickson DaBell and they were married in the Salt Lake Temple on March 11,1978 and cherish their 43 years of marriage. They have 4 children and 16 grandchildren. She and Dan lived in Taylorsville, South Jordan and most recently Providence, Utah. Jean was a lifetime member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and emulated the life of Christ everyday. She and Dan served as missionaries in the inner city project in Salt Lake City and a full-time mission to American Samoa. Jean is a talented crafter, quilter and artist. She loved memorizing scriptures on her daily runs with her dogs Sally and Buster. She had a love for learning and began practicing the piano each day over the past few years. Her happiest times were making memories with her family. She loved spoiling her grandkids every birthday and during their annual weeklong grandma camp each summer.
She is so loved by her husband Daniel DaBell and children Tanna (Jed) Grunig, Andrew (Ashley) DaBell, Megan (Mike) Whitesides, Marcie (Brian) McClement, and 16 grandchildren. Jean is the daughter of Devon and the late Lavon Seeley, and her siblings are Kim (Steve) Clark, Ann (Kent) Woodbury, Devin (Michelle) Seeley, and Debbie (Brent) Giles. The family would like to thank all family, friends, doctors, medical and hospice professionals for their support and care during Jean’s treatments.
Funeral services will be held in Jean’s honor on Friday, December 17 at 11:00AM and a viewing will be held on Thursday, December 16 from 6-8:00PM at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter- day Saints located at 2447 W 11400 S, South Jordan, UT 84095.
