Jean Marie Hewitt's Obituary
Our dear wife, mother, sister, grandmother, and great grandmother, Jean Marie Hewitt, (91) passed away peacefully in her home in Millcreek, Utah on June 2, 2021. She was surrounded by her family.
Jean was born on December 1, 1929 in Renton, Washington to Everett and Aune Proctor. She married Allen Hewitt on November 2, 1968 and they were sealed in the Salt Lake Temple on April 2, 2015. She was blessed with seven children, six grandchildren, and five great-grandchildren.
Jean went to El Camino College in Southern California and then earned her associate’s degree from a satellite program sponsored by Cornell University. She studied management, which helped both her and her husband in their business endeavors. Jean owned a hotel in Provo and Las Vegas. She and Allen also owned and redeveloped many properties. Her management classes helped her with the paperwork and legal side of these pursuits while Allen did the “grunt work.”
According to her husband, the greatest accomplishment of her life was that “she made me really happy.” Jean and Allen were inseparable and shared a deep love that was visible to everyone. Their love set an example to all of us. They found their love over sharing a meal, traveling, or being with family. Their love conquered all.
Jean also enjoyed traveling. She and Allen traveled the world. They went on many cruises, toured China, Australia, New Zealand, Africa, Europe and Russia with her mother, and went on several trips with her children and grandchildren. One of the most magical and memorable vacations was when she went on the Disney Cruise with her grandchildren.
She devoted her time to the Lord. She was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and loved going to church. She enjoyed praying and was always eager to learn more about Christ. She loved and believed in the gospel and its plan. She knew she was a divine daughter of our Heavenly Father.
Jean is survived by her husband Allen; her children: Jeanne (Bob), Suzanne (Atle), Lynda (Joe), and Merrilee; her sister Janis; five grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; children: Jayné (Richard) and Kathleen; and grandson Byron.
