Jeanne Peters Triptow's Obituary
Jeanne’ Peters Triptow
1940 – 2024
Jeanne’ Peters Triptow, beloved wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend, returned to her Heavenly Father on November 3, 2024, after losing a battle with metastatic cancer. She was 84 years old.
She was born on August 31, 1940, to James Stanley and Mildred Hallsey in American Fork, Utah. In 9th grade, the family moved to Salt Lake City where she graduated from East High School and the University of Utah majoring in secondary education.
She married Thomas Triptow and was blessed with two children, Kirk James and Shari Ann who brought her great joy.
Her parents taught her the value of hard work, and while raising her children, she taught junior high school in Salt Lake, Granite, and Murray Schools retiring in 1999. She loved fashion and was perhaps the best dressed schoolteacher around. She was meticulous in all she did.
Jeanne’ was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. She dedicated herself to serving in any capacity to which she was called. She had various callings – the Salt Lake Temple Youth Center, as Relief Society President as well as counselor under three Presidents. She helped host Empty Nest and attended Book of Mormon study group for many years. She treasured the many friendships she gained through church service.
Jeanne’ was able to travel much of the U.S. as well as countries around the world. Many of those trips, which she memorialized in scrapbooks she lovingly created, included children and grandchildren.
Some of her fondest memories were spent with dear friends – trips, lunches, and get togethers to play games. She felt blessed by her many friendships and spoke only kind words about others. She was a great listener. She also loved and doted on the family schnauzers.
Jeanne’ adored her grandchildren and never missed her grandsons’ football games and granddaughters cheer competitions, watching them via media. She is proud of the good choices they are making. She was grateful to meet her youngest great-grandson in September when his parents traveled to Salt Lake so she could meet him and attend his baby blessing.
The family wishes to thank A Plus Healthcare at Home for their compassion and great care of Jeanne’ in her final weeks.
Jeanne’ is survived by her husband, Tom; children Kirk James, and Shari (Kurt) Haws; grandchildren Ashlee (Sergio) Sanchez, Jordan Triptow, Caden (Rhiannon) Haws, Luke Haws, and Kira Haws; 4 great-grandchildren; and her brother, James (Sarah) Peters. Jeanne’ is preceded in death by her parents.
We look forward to greeting friends and family at a viewing Friday, November 22, 2024, from 10 am – 11 am at the Olympus Hills Ward, 4147 Adonis Drive (3950 East), Millcreek, UT 84124. A private graveside service will follow for immediate family.
