I have so many memories of Jeff and his family while growing up together on Salt Lake City's east bench: Jeff taught me how to eat potato chips the "proper" way...stuff the whole chip in your mouth. Don't munch on them!! I can't help but think of Jeff every time I see a bag of potato chips!! Then there was the time he drove around on his motorcycle in an Easter bunny suit...classic Jeff. When our family (the Edgins) moved from SLC in 1969, Jeff followed us in his car early that Saturday morning up Parley's canyon and out on Hwy 40 to wave good bye. How many 16 year old friends would think to do that? To this very day when registering for an online account and they ask you to select security questions like what was the color of your first car or your favorite pet's name....I always select the question "what was the name of your childhood best friend?", and, of course, the answer is and will always be...Jeff.

My brother, Todd Child, was a good friend with Jeff in high school and college. I was several years younger, but remember Jeff and his very funny stories. I think he had a motorcycle back then, and struggle to wear a helmet, but did cuz he had to. (I could be wrong on that, because I was so much younger).
Sadly, my brother died at the young age of 22. I know Jeff was at Todd's funeral, and I'm pretty sure he was a Pall Bearer. Since Todd was gone, we didn't really keep track of Jeff. But we all thought of him frequently. My mother, in particular, thought of him often.
Thank you so much for the fond memories from so long ago. And, I have a strong hunch, you are laughing with my brother Todd now.

I am so sad that Fran and I have already purchased air fare and made hotel reservations to visit our youngest daughter (Karen) and her family who live in England. We are flying from SLC International the morning of October 17th.
It is so sad that so many of my Bush family cousins are leaving us. Being the first and oldest grand child of the Ozzie and Florence Lilac Bush grand children, I should have been the first to go. For sure, in spite of the fact that I haven't always taken the best care of myself, I'm surprised I'm still kicking.
We send our love and condolences to the Lones.

My younger brother was always my big brother. Rock of the family, bigger than life, full of love and laughter. His storytelling ability was above the best and he could make anybody laugh or bring a smile where there were frowns. He's going to be missed more than words can say. I love you, Jeff. I remember that robbery case. I was assigned to go the one of the hospitals where one of the suspects had been life flighted. Jeff did such a good job on that! I loved working with him. He always took time to listen to me and give me advice. He was a super nice guy!! Rest in Peace Jeff :)
The awards keep piling up for a Salt Lake County sheriff's deputy who foiled a bank robbery attempt and saved a hostage.
Detective Jeff Lone was awarded the medal of valor last week by the Utah Peace Officers Association.
Lone thwarted an attempted bank robbery and kidnapping in December by shooting two armed men who had taken one of the tellers hostage. The men were shot as they raised their weapons at Lone. Both were hospitalized, while the teller suffered only a minor injury.
Lone received the medal for "his act of bravery in the face of imminent and serious risk of danger and personal injury," said Salt Lake County sheriff's deputy Peggy Faulkner.
Already this year, Lone was awarded the Law Enforcement Officer of the Year by the International Footprinters Association and the Medal of Distinction by the sheriff's office. Lone has been with the sheriff's office for more than 20 years.
To my Teddy bear of a man, there are no words to describe the depth of my sorrow and loss. You will live on in my heart forever! May god hold you, and may your relatives on the other side, greet you with the love you so richly deserve! The world will sorely miss such a fine soul!
