Jenice LaNae Bennett's Obituary
The world lost a beautiful and passionate soul this year. Jenice LaNae Bennett, 48, passed away on January 18th, 2022, in Salt Lake Valley after a three year battle with obstacles from a fight with a brain tumor.
Jenice was born in Murray, UT on October 18th, 1973, at the Cottonwood Hospital to her mother, Joette Kalmar, and father, Dennis Wilcox. From the moment Jenice made her way into this world, she was determined on living a good life and was relentless in achieving her goals. Jenice was a firecracker and never settled for less than she deserved. She had a way of stepping into a room and lighting the place up, especially if it was dull. Always the life of the party, she had an infectious laugh and a contagious sense of humor that could make anyone cry from laughing too hard. That heartfelt and enormous laugh, especially with her mom and sisters, always brought light and joy to those who would hear it.
As a youth she was determined to be good at the things she was interested in and succeeded at doing those things. Not only did Jenice have a strong will and bright personality, but she was also incredibly talented with cooking, baking, and gardening, among the other hobbies that she enjoyed. When she was about eighteen or nineteen, she was set up by her nail tech to go on a date with Tye Bennett which was the beginning of a love story that many envy. They were each other’s yin to their yang. You could sense how strong their bond was from a mile away. Both very loving and supportive parents, together they raised three amazing children: Easton Tye Bennett, Alex Jenice Bennett, and Jack Bill Bennett.
Jenice is survived by her stepfather, George Kalmar; stepmother, Cheryl Wilcox; In-law’s, Ken R Bennett, Jo Bennett, Tamara Coe, and Bobby Coe; siblings: Denette Wilcox, Jake Wilcox, Dustin Wilcox, Rory Kalmar, Katherine Kalmar; stepbrother Adam Olsen, stepsister Jennifer Olsen; In-law siblings, Kresdon Bennett, Mel Bennett, Shay D Smith, and Leroy Smith. She also had many aunts, uncles, nieces, and nephews who all adored her as well.
Jenice’s legacy will live on in the hearts of the many lives she touched. If you knew Jenice, you know that she did not go without a fight and would want us to celebrate her life as if she were still here with us. At a time in the near future, the family will schedule a Celebration of Life to commemorate Jenice so we can recall all of our fond memories that we will cherish together. Once those details are finalized the family will release info through various social media channels and word of mouth.
