Jennifer Anne Kay Martineau's Obituary
With heavy hearts and deep love, we announce the passing of Jennifer Anne Kay Martineau (51), a devoted wife, mother, daughter, sister, and friend, who returned to her Heavenly Father after a life filled with compassion, service, and unwavering faith.
Jennifer was born on June 25, 1973, in Provo, Utah, and was raised in Payson, Utah, where she developed a lifelong love for people and learning. She was the cherished daughter of Clark and Nadine Kay, who survive her, and the beloved sister of David Kay (Brenda), Brent Kay (Becky), Kelli Kay, and Chris Kay (Blair), all of whom will miss her dearly.
Jennifer attended Utah State University in Logan, Utah, where she earned her master’s degree in Speech-Language Pathology. She loved her time in Logan. It always held a special place in her heart for the community and friendships she built there and continued to maintain her relationship with her friends through the years. Jen devoted her professional life to helping others, working for 15 years in the Alpine and Davis School Districts, where she changed countless lives with her skill, patience, and compassion.
A faithful member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, Jennifer lived a life of service and love. She married James Martineau in the Bountiful Utah Temple on December 5, 2009, and together they built a life rooted in faith and devotion. Jennifer loved the temple deeply. One of the final miracles of her life was the sacred opportunity to visit the Syracuse Utah Temple before its official open house, surrounded by those who love her. Many tender mercies and small miracles made this visit possible. Jen served faithfully in many callings, including as Primary President in the West Point 18th Ward, where her influence touched the lives of many children and families.
Above all, Jennifer loved her family. She is survived by her loving husband, James Martineau, and their two precious daughters, Kaylynn Emily (12) and Sophia Jennifer (9), whom she adored more than anything in this world. One thing Jennifer loved doing with her daughters was listening to music, (especially The Piano Guys), singing, and playing the piano. She was dedicated to their growth and happiness and ensured they had every opportunity to learn and flourish.
Jen was known for her kind spirit, infectious laugh, her willingness to do anything for anyone, and adventurous heart. She found joy in the simple and the grand—whether it was a road trip to Arizona with her family, a church history trip with her parents, or traveling through Europe with her sister, Jen embraced each experience fully. She never missed an opportunity to make a new friend or share a smile. Her family describes her as charitable, kind, humble, loyal, tenacious, devoted, and deeply service oriented.
Jennifer’s mortal work is complete, and she has returned home to her Heavenly Father. Her light, legacy, and love will continue to live on in the hearts of all who knew her. We are profoundly grateful for the life she lived, the example she set, and the memories we now hold dear. Jen, we honor you and love you. You will be missed beyond measure.
We are deeply grateful for Intermountain Homecare and Hospice and Premier Funeral Services for their compassionate care. We also want to express our profound appreciation to Arches Transportation for making possible Jennifer's last wish to visit the Syracuse Temple with her family. Thank you to all the friends, neighbors, and family members who have loved and supported us through this difficult time.
A viewing will be held on Saturday, May 17th from 9:00-10:30 AM, followed by funeral services at 11:00 AM. The viewing and funeral will be held at the West Point 18th Ward Chapel 2865 West 800 North, West Point, UT. Interment will follow at the Hooper City Cemetery at 5290 South 6300 West, Hooper, UT. The service will also be broadcast for those unable to attend (see link........https://zoom.us/j/99158675274).
