Jenny Lorraine Gailey's Obituary
Jenny Lorraine Gailey
September 5, 1978 – June 23, 2025
Jenny Lorraine Gailey passed away peacefully in her sleep on Monday, June 23, 2025, after facing a number of medical challenges. In her final days, she was surrounded by family and felt comfort and love. She was no longer in pain and left this world on her own terms, ready to return to heaven.
Jenny was born on September 5, 1978, in West Valley City, Utah to Sharri and Jonathan Gailey. As the only daughter among four brothers—Kurt, Mark, Blaine, and Paul—Jenny stood out with her long dark hair and vibrant spirit. Her brothers remember her as a determined and hands-on woman who wasn’t afraid to get her hands dirty working on cars, yet was also soft-hearted and emotionally open with those she loved.
From an early age, Jenny showed a love for creativity and connection. She enjoyed playing with makeup, dressing up, and sewing her own clothes. Her parents remember how she made birthdays and holidays special for her friends, always going out of her way to make others feel celebrated. Jenny loved adventures—whether it was shooting, concerts, dancing with friends, or decorating her space. She had a special bond with animals, especially her cats and, more recently, the squirrels she lovingly fed from her window. She would spend hours talking to them and calling them by name.
Above all, Jenny’s greatest joy was being a mother and grandmother. She is survived by her two children, Chanel Gailey (Day) and Josh Gailey (Gabriela). Jenny met her lifelong partner Nick Thomas and embraced his children, Xavier Thomas and Breana Thomas (Ksean), as her own. Her kids describe her as a bold, fun-loving mom with a distinctive laugh, a passion for music, her crazy clothing prints and her cooking skills.
Jenny was also a proud and loving grandmother to Easton, Kaireece, Paisley, and Kayvien. She adored spending time with them—babysitting, crafting, watching movies, and playing outdoors. She was the kind of grandma who never said no to candy or soda, and loved spoiling her grandkids every chance she got. She was eagerly awaiting the arrival of another grandchild, whom she sadly won’t get to meet in this life.
Jenny was preceded in death by her grandparents and uncles Randy, Charlie, Kim, and Rahe. She is survived by her parents; her spouse; her four brothers and their families; her children and their spouses; her grandchildren; and many beloved aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, nephews, and dear friends.
She loved to have a good time, was always the life of the party and had a laugh that could fill the room. Beyond the fun, she was deeply caring, loyal, and supportive. She showed up for the people she loved, and when it came down to it, she handled her business and took care of what mattered. Her spirit was bold, her heart was big, and her presence made everything a little brighter.
A Celebration of Life will be held on Thursday, July 3rd at 7:30 PM at Murray City Park, Pavilion #1. Please join us to honor Jenny’s memory, share stories, and celebrate the incredible life she lived.
