Jenny Ann Kanagaratnam's Obituary
On February 8, 2021, Jenny Ann Kanagaratnam passed away at her home in Heber City, Utah, surrounded by her family at the age of 66.
Jenny was born on November 9, 1954 to Palestinian emigrants, John and Jean (Shamieh) Saah in Washington, DC. On November 16, 1978, she married Karunakaran Kanagaratnam. They raised three children, Stephanie, Jason, and Elyse. And together, they moved their family to Park City, Utah in 1998.
Jenny is most remembered for her immense generosity and her unparalleled strength. A dedicated mother and wife, she did everything possible to care for and protect her family. And she was incredibly welcoming as her children met their respective partners. Outside her family, Jenny made untold connections and was loved by most everyone who met her.
Jenny was a master at creating inviting spaces. She kept a beautiful home, which she designed herself, and a serene backyard garden where friends and family would get together. She loved to travel, visiting everywhere from Branson, Missouri with her sisters to Jaffna, Sri Lanka with her husband. She was also an avid hiker and multicultural chef.
Jenny was preceded in death by her parents and her sister, Linda Saah. She is survived by her husband, three children, two grandchildren, Noah and Aspen Donovan, and six siblings, Alfred Saah, Joyce Stephens, Margaret Gilliland, Richard Saah, Ronald Saah, and James Saah.
A commemoration will be held virtually on Sunday, February 21, 2021 at 11am MST (1pm EST) at the link below . In lieu of flowers, Jenny preferred donations be made to St. Jude’s Children’s Research Hospital.
