Jeri Spackman's Obituary
Jeri Spackman, a valiant wife and mother, passed away peacefully in her home on Wednesday June 19,2024, having been visited by every one of her posterity in her last days.
Born November 8, 1942, in Smithfield, Utah to Orris Mae Allen and Willard Theron Hansen, Sr.
Jeri was the third of five children. She loved her parents and adored her four siblings. Theirs was life of dairy farming with never-ending chores to attend to. The values of hard work, love, services to others, and family loyalty were strongly ingrained during these formative years.
Jeri loved music and enjoyed playing the piano and singing. She participated in basketball, track, and softball while attending Lewiston Junior High. She was a member of the Boosteretts before graduating from North Chache High. While attending North Cache, she started dating the love of her life Darwin James Spackman. Darwin won their first date by the luck of a coin toss. They were about to celebrate 63 years of marriage.
Darwin and Jeri were sealed in the Logan Temple on June 30, 1961. Raising their four children were the most joyous and challenging experiences of her life. She was actively engaged in supporting her children in their schooling and extracurricular activities. She always found a way to be to the events of her children’s lives and quickly became their most vocal cheerleader.
For 26 years Jeri was employed at ZCMI and was a department manager for much of that time. One of her favorite responsibilities was “suiting up” newly called missionaries whom she often wrote during their service. Jeri was a lifelong member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints and exemplified her love of the Savior and her faith in prayer. She held a variety of church callings, but because of her love of children, she particularly enjoyed serving in the Primary.
Jeri looked forward to family vacations to Yellowstone National Park, Bear Lake, and her trips to Disneyland with her grandchildren.
Jeri had a special and unique relationship with each of her 17 grandchildren and a soft spot in her heart for each of her 23 great-grandchildren, with three more due to arrive soon. She was a loyal wife, mother, grandmother, and sister.
Jeri is survived by her husband Darwin, her children; Troy Spackman (Marie), Hollie Peterson (Greg), Aaron Spackman (Marnie), and Jared Spackman (Shanelle). Jeri will be missed by all who knew her and we are grateful for her love, her example of faith, courage, and willingness to submit to the Lord’s will.
At Jeri’s request a private graveside service will be held at the Trenton Cemetery in Trenton, Utah.
