Jesse Taylor Ballstaedt's Obituary
Jesse Taylor Ballstaedt, age 33, passed away on Tuesday, October 4, 2016. Jesse was born in Iowa City, Iowa on October 4, 1983. He is the son of David John Ballstaedt, Jr., and Sheila Estella Meikle.
Jesse spent his high school years in both Iowa and Utah. He graduated from Mt. Vernon High School, Mt. Vernon, Iowa in 2002. Jesse then graduated from Kirkwood Community College, Cedar Rapids, Iowa with a degree in Respiratory Therapy. Subsequently, he worked at University of Iowa Hospitals & Clinics and at the Acute Care Unit within the St. Lukes Hospital in Cedar Rapids. Jesse has been described by those close to him as “very kind, giving and compassionate.”, “Jesse was a caretaker. He wanted to take care of people. He wanted to help them out.” Jesse’s greatest joys in life were his family, his beloved dog “Titan” and music. Jesse was a self-taught pianist and guitarist. He loved to entertain his friends and family with his musical abilities. He spent his spare time singing and playing the guitar.
Jesse is survived by his parents, seven sisters and four brothers––Wendy Kay Ballstaedt Wright (M. Bradley Wright), Marcy Ann Ballstaedt Marcy (Peter Alexander Marcy), Lara Lee Ballstaedt Churchill, Natasha Marie Ballstaedt Sponbeck (Christer Tage Sponbeck), Courtney Lynn Ballstaedt Edwards, David John Ballstaedt, III, Joshua James Ballstaedt, Zachary Paul Ballstaedt, Taylor Cody Ballstaedt (Rebecca Martin), Noel Meikle Ballstaedt Baker (William Harrison Baker), and Reille Lauren Ballstaedt Worby (Troy Michael Worby), and his grandmother, Lillian Mae Gruhn, along with 34 nieces and nephews and his beloved dog, Titan. Jesse is preceded in death by his maternal grandfather, Paul Gruhn, and his paternal grandparents, David John and Helen Taylor Ballstaedt, and his grandnephew, Odin Phillip Rodriquez.
Funeral services will be held Monday October 10th at 11:00 am. At the LDS chapel located at 4558 South 600 East, Murray, Utah.
Interment will be at Elysian Burial Gardens 1075 East 4580 South, Salt Lake City, Utah
