Jim D. Tilly, 89, of West Point, Utah, passed away peacefully on July 30, 2025, at Layton Intermountain Hospital, with his girls by his side. He was born on January 28, 1936, in Faribault, MN, to John and Eva Thune Tilly. Jim grad Read Obituary
I first met Jim back in the mid 70s, we worked together for Child bothers construction. He took me under his wing and taught me a lot about our job. From that point on I considered Jim as a good friend. He showed me some real good fishing holes in the Uinta’s! Jim, his dog Jesse. and myself spent some good days up there. Living in the same area and seeing him all the time and having a good conversation with him, is going to be missed!
Jim was a wonderful, wonderful man! I wish I would have seen him more often of the years, but I will forever cherish the times I did spend with him. I loved going to the trap shoots and seeing him there! He ALWAYS cheered me on and had a way of teaching me/ giving me advice on ways to improve during shooting. I loved going to his house and talking about hunting and hearing stories of him and Ken Clough. I loved how he had me come over and clean once a month when his house was completely clean and not needed it and so I would mostly chat and listen to stories . He was a really great guy and I hope he’s happy now in heaven with his dogs and know the ways he left an imprint, on those who knew him, lives and heart!
I remember the day I told Jim that I named my son Brody after him Brody James Lillegard it’s the only time I ever seen him lost for words with tears in his eyes he just hugged me I did this to show the love I have for a very special man that treated me like a son took me fishing and hunting I will always treasure the memories of him and I like the time trap shooting and Brody shot 25 of 25 he was so proud of his grandson as he called him we will miss you Jim
