Jo Ann Ford's Obituary
Jo Ann Ford, beloved mother, grandmother, sister, and friend, passed away peacefully on February 9, 2025. She was born in Aransas Pass, Texas, to Roger Seaman Knapp and Jean Louise Sinclair Knapp. Jo Ann graduated from W.B. Ray High School in Corpus Christi, Texas, and went on to pursue her passion for art, earning a BA in Art from the University of Arkansas.
Jo Ann’s life was marked by love, faith, and dedication. She first married her high school sweetheart, Jan Gosnell, and later married Patrick Horan, with whom she had her first child. In 1977, she was baptized into the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, and on November 11, 1978, Jo Ann and David Wayne Ford were married and sealed in the Manti Temple. They went on to have three children together.
Throughout her life, Jo Ann was deeply committed to genealogy, tracing her ancestors and joyfully sending their names to the temple. She was also known for her remarkable artistic talent, creating a statue of Joseph Smith and producing numerous drawings and paintings of church leaders and family members. Her artistic legacy and love for her family were central to her life. She was particularly devoted to her grandchildren, who cherished her.
Jo Ann was known for her kindness, always going out of her way to help others, especially by sharing her passion for genealogy. Her patience during difficult times left a lasting impression on all who knew her.
She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, David Wayne Ford, and her parents. She is survived by her siblings: Jeannette Knapp Chase, Barbara Knapp Elliot, Linda Knapp Mineau, and Roger Knapp; her children: Sean Horan, David Ford, Mary Jo Dunlop, and Donald Ford; and her 14 cherished grandchildren.
A funeral service will be held in her honor on February 20, 2025, at 12:00 p.m. at the LDS Church located at 13381 S 6000 W, Herriman, UT 84096. A viewing will be held prior to the service from 11:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m.
Jo Ann’s love for her family and her unwavering devotion to the gospel will be remembered by all who were blessed to know her. She will be deeply missed, but her legacy of love and service will endure in the hearts of those she touched.
