Joan Lorraine Gates' Obituary
Joan Lorraine Gates, 78, of Woodland passed away Friday, July 28, 2023 at her son’s home n Clinton, Utah. She was born April 5, 1945 in Woodland, the daughter of the late Hazel Bell and Russell Gates. She was a 1963 graduate of Woodland High School. Joan was a loving mother and wife. She retired from State of California, where she held positions with several departments including the Division of Oil and Gas and the California State Lottery. From an early age, Joan loved riding and taking care of horses. She especially liked riding on the beach at the ocean and around Folsom Lake. She’s was adventurous and wanted to travel the world, and so after retiring she did. Joan was a strong women who loved her family, friends, children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. She was hard working, loving and generous. To her last day, she was always asking if there was something she could do to help.
Joan is survived by her children Tony (Jan) Silva of Roseville, CA and Bill (Elizabeth) Silva of Clinton, UT, as well as her eleven grandchildren Kelsi, Alec, Jesse, Lauren, Spencer, Leah, Emma, Oliver, Hayden, Katie, Ryan and two great grandchildren Jack and Wyatt.
