Joan Dorthy Morrison Lentz's Obituary
Joan Dorthy Morrison Lentz was born on October 16, 1930, to the late Angus Don and Mary Susannah Teresa Hall Morrison, in Sigel Township, Huron, Michigan. She passed away on April 16, 2024, at the age of 93 1/2 in Millcreek, Salt Lake County, Utah, with family by her side, while listening to a recording of her mother's voice.
Joan was a graduate of Central Michigan University. She worked as a school teacher, a social worker, a tax preparer, and spent more than 30 years working at Mervyn's. She enjoyed travel, and visited many countries, including, but not limited to: Italy, Morocco, Russia, Fiji, China, Turkey, and Egypt. She loved spending time with her grandchildren. Joan had a wonderful, dry, sense of humor, and enjoyed teasing her family members with it.
She is survived by a daughter, Joan Helen Lentz Felders, and a son, Richard Dale Lentz and daughter-in-law, Barbara Schmidt Lentz. She also leaves behind 9 grandchildren: Melanie, Beth, Alex, Ben, Cameron, Daniel, Elaina, Joey and Kimi. She is also survived by 8 great-grandchildren, and 7 great-great-grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her parents, 2 brothers: Angus and Gordon, and 2 sisters: Marie and Viona.
The family wishes to give a special thanks to all of the caregivers and nurses who cared for Joan in her final years. Also, a special thanks to her grandson, Alex Lentz, who gave her the care she needed to remain in her home for her final 7 years, as was her wish.
