Joaquin Estrada's Obituary
Joaquin Estrada, age 51 of Pleasant Grove, Utah passed away April 15, 2021 at Utah Valley Hospital in Provo, Utah surrounded by his loved ones.
Joaquin was born on October 15, 1969 to Simon Estrada and Rita Léon in Atotonilco de Tula, Hidalgo, Mexico. He was a 1987 graduate of Benemérito de las Américas and went on to serve a mission for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints in Veracruz, Mexico from 1990 to 1992. Upon returning from his mission he met Julia Martinez and they married in 1996. Together they welcomed their first child in 1997. He graduated from Brigham Young University in 1998 with a bachelor’s in computer science and degree in business. Joaquin worked for Waterford as a programmer before forming his first trucking company in 2002. At the time of his death, Joaquin also worked with his wife as president of trucking companies America’s Transport and Western Logistics.
Joaquin was a dedicated, supportive, and loving husband and father. He will be remembered for his bright personality and compassion for others. He loved nature and could often be found spending time outdoors with his family. He was passionate about serving those around him and making the world a better place. Joaquin was an active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints and served as a bishop to the Hillcrest 9th ward from 2012 to 2017.
Joaquin is survived by his wife, Julia and their four children Joshua, Jared, Jacqueline and Jeffrey. He is also survived by his parents and five siblings, Eliseo, Martin, Velia, Jose Alfredo and Helen.
Family and friends are invited to celebrate Joaquin’s life at the Mount Mahogany Stake Center, 1548 North 900 West in Pleasant Grove, Utah on Saturday, April 17 where a viewing will be held from 10:30 a.m. to 11:45 a.m. followed by a funeral service from 12:00 p.m. to 1 p.m. Funeral will also be broadcast in English and Spanish.

The burial will be at 1:30 p.m. in Highland Park Cemetery. The family requests that all flowers, notes and any other source of support are sent to their home or through Venmo @jumaes Mask wearing is strongly encouraged at the services.
