Jody Marc Warren's Obituary
Jody Marc Warren, 51, was called back to our Father in Heaven during his sleep on June 29, 2014 while fishing in Alaska.
Jody was born on February 10, 1963 to Calvin and Corrine Warren in Afton, Wyoming as the eighth of eleven children. He spent most of his youth in Freedom, Wyoming where he enjoyed a life of fishing, farming, and hunting. During that time, he also developed a passion for wrestling, which would go on to shape his career.
Jody was a devote member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and served a mission in Washington, D.C. After returning, he married his sweetheart, Kamie Joyce Swenson, in the Logan Temple on March 21, 1985. Jody received a scholarship to wrestle at Weber State University where he graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Geology. Motivated by his experience at Weber State, he decided to pursue a career as a high school teacher and wrestling coach. He spent the first year of his career at Ogden High, after which he moved to Weber High where he spent 21 years as the head wrestling coach and 26 years teaching. While at Weber, Jody established a successful wrestling program that was recognized and respected throughout the state of Utah. He loved his wrestlers and hoped his program would prepare young men to lead happy, successful lives.
Jody centered his life on his family and on the Gospel. He and his wife had five children: Whitney Sanders, Shay Warren, Jayce Warren, Balie Warren, and Kylee Warren. His children were the light of his life, and he spent time helping each of them succeed. Throughout his life, he accepted and magnified several church callings. He enjoyed serving the Lord and others through formal assignments and casual interactions alike.
Survivors include his wife; children; son-in-law, Travis Sanders; daughter-in-law, Alexis Warren; four brothers, Steve, Dallas, Wyatt and Clint Warren; and two sisters, Julie Payne and Kim Aldrich. He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers, and two sisters.
Services will be held at the Plain City Stake Center (4575 W 2125 N) on Monday, July 7, 2014. The viewing will be from 11 a.m.—1 p.m. followed by the funeral service at 2 p.m.
