Joel Leon Barrett's Obituary
Joel Leon Barrett passed away on July 27, 2026, at the Mervyn Sharp Bennion Central Utah Veterans Home in Payson, Utah, where he resided in his final years. He was 74 years old.
Joel was born on January 1, 1952, in Florida. He spent much of his life in Texas before moving to Ogden, Utah, in 2004, where he made his home.
Joel proudly served his country in the United States Marine Corps. His dedication and sacrifice were a meaningful part of his life, and he remained connected to the veteran community throughout his years.
After his military service, Joel built a long career as a professional truck driver, spending approximately 35 years behind the wheel of 18-wheelers. He took pride in his work and the responsibility that came with it.
Joel enjoyed the simple things in life. He loved spending time with family, working on cars, and cheering on his beloved Dallas Cowboys. Those who knew him will remember his independent spirit, his strength, and the way he showed love through the things he did.
Joel is survived by his only son, Marcus Barrett; his daughter-in-law, DeJarae Barrett; and his granddaughter, Madilyn Barrett, who he loved more than words can express. Madilyn brought him tremendous joy, and the bond they shared was one of the greatest blessings in his life.
Joel will be remembered by those who loved him for the life he lived, the challenges he overcame, the service he gave, and the memories he created with his family.
