John Taylor Bytendorp
John (Jito) Taylor Bytendorp tragically and suddenly passed away in a work-related accident at the age of 66.
John was born to Lain S and Donna T Bytendorp in Salt Lake City. John enjoyed mountain biking, spending time at his cabin with his dogs, traveling, concerts and very recently, camping in his new trailer, as well as spending time with family and friends. John was always smiling, laughing and telling jokes. He always had a witty come back for everything.
John graduated from Granite High School in 1971. He was a volunteer fireman for South Salt Lake and was licensed as a Master Electrician in four states. John was employed by LMS for 36 years. He was a hard worker who was loved by all and had an infectious personality.
In 1993 John married the love of his life, best friend and traveling companion Debra Rakes.
He is survived by his wife Debra, his sons Jared (Jenell) of Lehi, Corey (Heather) of Saratoga Springs, both from a previous marriage to Carey Draper. Grandchildren; Mckenzy, Rhea, Kymbr, Kalli and one Great Grandchild Ryder. Siblings; Linda (Dwayne), James (Glenna), Fred, Carla (Craig), Reed (Shelly) and Terry (husband to Gilda). He is preceded in death by his parents and siblings; Gilda, Bruce, Glen, and his beloved dogs Digger and Gracie.
Family and friends are invited to attend the services on Friday August 23, 2019 at the chapel located at 6890 S Whitmore Way (2200 E) Cottonwood Heights, UT 84121. The services will begin at 11am. The family will be receiving guests beginning at 10am prior to the services. There will be no viewing. In lieu of flowers a donation can be made through Venmo @Debra-Rakes-1 or written check to Debra Rakes. All proceeds will go to the Zonta Club of Salt Lake.
