John Jacob Fromer Jr's Obituary
71 passed away October 11 following a long battle with Frontotemporal dementia at his home surrounded by loved ones.
John was born November 8,1952 the eldest son of John Fromer Sr and Rita Wall Fromer. He grew up in Tannersville,NY and moved to New York City,NY to attend Pratt Art Institute. He became a fixture in New York society as a much sought after hair colorist at the famed Kenneth Salon. Upon retirement he moved to Ogden,UT with his husband of 22 years, Willis McCree where they shared their life with their families.
A larger than life personality, John was loved by many for his wit and charm but he always made it about John and Will. Together they established art scholarships at Pratt Art Institute, Eccles Community Art Center and gave several private scholarships.
John was predeceased by his parents, a sister Christine Fromer, brother David Fromer, son John McCree, daughter Susan Seber,son in law Kurtis Frieberg and is survived by his husband Willis, sisters Lynn (Fritz)Carlson, Julia (Rich) Galac, brothers Dan (Teresa) Fromer, Mark (Michelle) Fromer, Tim (Patricia) Fromer, son Jason (Heidi) McCree, daughters Jennifer Frieberg, Karianne (Ken) Ormond, Alaina (Cory) Menlove, son in law Jim Seber, 16 grandchildren and 7 great grandchildren. A private service is being planned for a later date.
A celebration of life will be held on November 8th 2024 from 5:30 pm – 7:30 pm at Leavitt’s Mortuary 836 36th Street in Ogden, Utah. Remarks at 6:00 pm with a birthday balloon release and refreshments to follow
