John Randy "Dodo" Griego's Obituary
JOHN RANDY “DODO” GRIEGO
March 12, 1964 - June 12, 2020
John Randy Griego (“Dodo”), the son of Jose Misel Griego & Rosa Herrera Griego, born March 12, 1964 at Holy Cross Hospital in Salt Lake City, passed away peacefully on June 12, 2020 in Murray, Utah at the age of 56. He is survived by step-daughter Angela Alires; daughter Jessica Griego; son Alexander Griego; grandson Isaac Alires (whom he adopted and raised); brothers Bruce Griego, Richard Griego, Michael Griego; sisters Eve Bailey, Dorothy Hicks, Darlene Vigil and Donna Wells and 7 loved grandchildren. Randy attended Cyprus High School and went on to work faithfully for Pentalon Construction for 20 years. Randy married his soulmate, Angelina Alires, on April 2, 2004 in Salt Lake City, Utah. They bought their first home in 2007 where they raised their two beloved children and beloved grandson. Dodo had a passion for fishing, hunting and football. He was an avid Raiders fan, outdoor fanatic, fruit/candy-eating enthusiast, the Gordon Ramsey of home-cooked Mexican dishes, and was well known for telling the best Dad jokes ever. He cared and provided for his wife for 14 years until she passed away in 2018. Randy was an accomplished father and grandfather, instilling compassion, love, hard work and perseverance into his children. He was a secure friend who would open his heart and home to those in need, even during times of his own hardship. He is a valiant conqueror of pain and a model of endurance. Randy saved his step-daughter’s life, performing CPR on her as a child. He was present to witness the college graduations of both his step-daughter and his daughter. He was most proud of being able to support and watch his autistic son go to college.
Randy is loved and cherished and is a treasure in the eyes of those who knew his soul. Randy is now with our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. We are sure he is watching from above, hands entwined with his beautiful wife, his noble parents right by his side, and his family pet Oreo laying at his feet.
Mass will be held Saturday, June 20, at 11:00 a.m. at St. Thomas More Catholic Church, 3015 E. Creek Road, Cottonwood Heights, UT 84093.
