John Carroll Houle's Obituary
John Carroll Houle, 54, died peacefully at his home in Orem, Utah on October 7, 2014. He was born on Jan. 12, 1960 in Bozeman, Montana to Martin Jean and Beverly Joan Sherlock Houle. John grew up in Dugway, Utah where he graduated from high school. He attended CEU where he ran cross-country and track. He later graduated with an associate degree from the University of Phoenix in 2010. John was always known for his quick humor and contagious laughter. He lived life fully and experienced many fun times with friends and family. He was a kind man that would do anything for anyone. He could fix anything that was broken and had a great talent working with people. He especially enjoyed coaching track & field and cross-country at Orem High School and working as a USATF official. He loved music and running. John was involved as a mentor for AA, worked at St. Francis of Assisi in Orem, and was a member of the Knights of Columbus. John is survived by his daughters Brianne and Shyloh Houle, and their mother Sherilyn Houle, stepson Brandon Atkinson, daughter Brandi Perry, five grandchildren, many nieces and nephews, and ten siblings: Mark (Mary) of Menahga, MN, David (Laura) of American Fork, Marta of Jefferson City, MT, Eric (Diane) of Cedar City, Kirk (Kim) of Lindon, Joan (Monty) of Missoula, MT, Anne (Scott) of Salt Lake City, Jean (“Chip”) of Goodyear, AZ, Faith (Christopher) of Huntsville, AL, and Scott (Jana) of Orem. Both of his parents preceded him in death. Services will be held on Tuesday, October 14 at St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church, 65 E 500 N in Orem, Rosary at 9:30 am with Mass following at 10:00 am.
