John Andy Jones' Obituary
John was born in Woodruff, South Carolina to Wearon Jones and Datie Ann Rogers Jones. John served in the Army from 1953 to 1956 and was honorably discharged. John joined the Air Force in 1957 and served honorably until 1975. Military service in the states and over seas was one of John's proudest accomplishments. He was a dedicated veteran. He served in many positions including Commander from 1999-2001 at VFW Post 8307. Layton City Parks has been John's place of employment for many years. He made many great friends there and took great pride in his work. John's last days were filled with visits from many friends. John had a way of making everyone feel like family. He will be greatly missed by his friends at the Layton VFW, Sill's Cafe, The American Leigion of Layton and Layton City Parks department. John was very close to his entire family in South Carolina, staying with his nephew, Leroy Jennings and his family during visits. John is survived by his two older sisters, his four children, Debbie Jones, Tim Jones, Johnny Jones and Kathy Plunkett. He is also survived by his step children Jennifer Simmons, Guy Anderson and Kari Barker. He is also survived by grandchildren, step grandchildren and great grand children. There will be a celebration of John’s life on Monday, May 5th at the American Legion in Layton, 128 S. main. An open house will be from 10:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. with a balloon release at 6:00 p.m.VFW Honors Ceremony for John A. Jones Saturday, May 10, 2014 at 3:00 p.m. at the Layton Park West of Layton High.
